The multi-dose container has already been opened and the rubber stopper has already been punctured several times with a needle. The closure is already slightly porous.
Resulting problems can be:
- Particles from the closure can enter into the medication
- The surface can no longer be sufficiently disinfected
- Bacteria can contaminate the medication
- Liquid can escape: The concentration of the medication may change
- Liquid can escape
- A needle must be used
The Mini-Spike® 2 can help to sustainably improve this process: The spike is inserted into the medication. Withdrawal takes place needle-free through the disinfectable valve. It can also be withdrawn upside down without dripping. The valve is automatically closed when the syringe is disconnected.

The treatment of intensive care patients requires special care. For central venous or epidural injections, special hygiene measures must be observed, as bacteria and particles can quickly enter the bloodstream and central nervous system.
