B. Braun and Aesculap are two traditional German companies specialized in medical technology. The family-owned enterprise
B. Braun exists since 1839, founded in Melsungen/Hessen. Today
B. Braun is well known by every Physician and Veterinarian, because of its invention of the puncture cannulae "Braunüle", the wide range of cannulae, syringes, central venous catheter systems, specially designed cannulaes for spinal anesthesia and the large variety of products for infusion technology, infusion-, irrigation-, and parenteral nutrition solutions.
Last but not least B. Braun is one of the world´s largest manufacturers for surgical sutures.
The history of Aesculap started in the year 1867, when Gottfried Jetter, a cutler, first begun to produce surgical instruments in Tuttlingen/Baden-Württemberg (world capitol for surgical instruments). Since the mid 70´s Aesculap is part of the B. Braun Company.
Aesculap has set milestones in the world of surgery through its premium quality surgical instruments, the invention of the first surgical electric motor in 1935 and the first surgical compressed air motor in 1967. Today Aesculap is among the leading companies for implants (hip- and knee prosthesis), osteosynthesis and interlocking nail systems.
A specialty of Aesculap, besides surgical products are clipping machines. Invented 1913, the professional clipping machines are even highly respected by competitors and are known as the "Rolls-Royce" of clippers among professional users.
From the very beginning, B. Braun and Aesculap always have played an important role in the veterinary world.
Meeting the constantly growing requirements of today´s veterinary surgery, B. Braun Vet Care GmbH (BVC) has been founded on 1st October 2003. This highly specialized branch of B. Braun and Aesculap represents the B. Braun Company in all its facilities.
Mission of the new organization is to introduce high grade quality products, new techniques and products to veterinarians in order to help them improving their skills and techniques and to facilitate their daily work. |
